Crime Prevention Coordinator

Under general supervision, the Crime Prevention Coordinator will apply the principles and methods of crime prevention, communications, public education, community organizing, and citizen motivation to increase the community’s safety awareness and strengthen relationships between the community and police.

The Crime Prevention Coordinator (CPC) works with the community to decrease crime by developing, implementing, and coordinating a variety of programs. 


  • Organizes and facilitates crime prevention workshops, educating the public regarding crime prevention and safety
  • Coordinates and participates in community outreach activities
  • Plans, develops, coordinates, and implements multiple Neighborhood Watch Groups
  • Researches, develops, and implements new public safety  programming within the community
  • Attends and participates in various public safety meetings


  • Ability to engage well with the community as a whole
  • Knowledge of civil and criminal laws to interpret and apply for the public
  • Understanding of or enthusiasm for learning about crime prevention strategies 
  • Flexible and creative
  • Exhibit self motivation and direction
  • Highly organized and dependable
  • Strong interpersonal communication, writing, editing, research, and organizational skills
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet research 


  • Bi-lingual (Spanish/English)
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications,  criminal justice, or a related field
