Autism Resource Fair Provides Connection and Support for Families

On April 8, 2025, NIDC’s Health Hub team hosted an impactful Autism Resource Fair at PS 483, bringing together families, caregivers, and local partners to support children with autism and other developmental disabilities.

The event was designed to connect families with helpful information and community-based resources. Attendees had the opportunity to meet representatives from key city agencies and local organizations, including the NYC Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, NYC Department of Human Rights, Wakefield Library, Include NYC, Golden Care Therapy, Splat Lab, and Extended Homecare. In addition to distributing information and guidance, the event featured interactive sensory activity tables, offering a welcoming, child-friendly space for participants of all abilities.

One of the most touching moments came at the sign-in table, where the school’s parent coordinator, whose own daughter is autistic, volunteered alongside her child. Their presence was a powerful reminder of the strength and advocacy within our community.

With over 25 families in attendance, the fair reinforced the importance of accessible, inclusive programming.

Thank you to our partners, families, and volunteers who helped make this event meaningful and memorable.
