Budgeting Workshop Equips Staff with Practical Financial Tools
/In celebration of Financial Literacy Awareness Month, NIDC’s Community Engagement team partnered with Liandry Suarez of State Farm to host a virtual Budgeting Workshop on April 17, 2025. The session was open to both youth and administrative staff and brought together 20 attendees for a focused, one-hour discussion on personal finance strategies.
Liandry walked participants through two popular budgeting models, the 50/30/20 Budget Rule and Zero-Based Budgeting, breaking down the pros and cons of each and offering real-life examples to help attendees choose the method that works best for them. The workshop emphasized practical tools to build financial confidence and encouraged participants to reflect on their own spending and saving habits.
As a follow-up, every attendee received an NIDC-branded Budget Log to help put their new knowledge into practice. One lucky participant won a $20 Chick-fil-A gift card, generously provided by State Farm, through a raffle giveaway.
Thank you to Liandry Suarez and State Farm for partnering with us, and to all who attended for investing in their financial futures.
