Meet Ameeta Persaud, NIDC's newest board member!
Born in New Amsterdam, Guyana, Ameeta Persaud first came to NYC as a child and has been a proud resident of the Bronx for the last 25 years, where she is raising her two teenage sons.
Ameeta holds a Master’s degree in Business Management and Leadership from the City University of New York (CUNY) School of Professional Studies, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology with minors in Psychology and Spanish from CUNY’s Herbert H. Lehman College.
Since 2016, Ameeta has served as the Director of Assessment, Accreditation, and Compliance at Lehman College’s School of Education. In this role, she leads institutional assessment efforts, supports accreditation processes, and ensures compliance with regulatory and quality standards. She also serves on several institutional committees, including the Senate Assessment Committee, and currently chairs the Quality Assurance Committee.
Prior to her career in higher education, Ameeta worked in the legal sector, serving as a paralegal and litigation assistant at multiple law firms. Her legal experience spans a wide range of practice areas, including corporate litigation, medical malpractice, entertainment law, labor and employment, immigration, and real estate law.
Ameeta brings extensive expertise in research methodologies, technological innovation, qualitative and quantitative assessment, accreditation, and project and data management to all her endeavors, both professional and philanthropic. Deeply committed to service, she prides herself on giving back to her community and supporting initiatives that promote education, equity, and opportunity.
She is excited to join the board and support NIDC's comprehensive approach to community development, strengthening individuals, families and neighborhoods in the borough she loves.
