Supporting Tenants, Landlords & Homeowners
NIDC works with tenants and landlords to address a variety of housing issues to help make neighborhoods in The Bronx a better place to live.
Safe, stable, and affordable housing is the foundation for thriving communities. We work with renters, landlords, and homeowners across the Bronx to address housing challenges, prevent evictions, improve living conditions, and empower residents to advocate for their rights.
Through education and direct support, we help Bronx residents secure and sustain adequate housing. Our free services include eviction prevention, housing court advocacy, tenant counseling, landlord mediation, building assistance, and benefit access for rent subsidies and social services. We also provide workshops, tenant organizing support, homeownership resources, and financial guidance for property maintenance.

NYC Housing Court
New York's housing court system is slow and overburdened, which has created significant challenges for many New Yorkers. The years-long backlog has led to what some are calling "housing court hell," leaving residents on the verge of bankruptcy.
