PS 77 & FSN: From Lullabies to Literacy–Building Your Child’s Communication Skills
In this workshop at PS 77, families learned practical, low-cost strategies—like interactive reading, rhyming games, and talking during routines—to support speech development and bonding.
PS 96 and NIDC Annual Potluck
Students came for the food, then stayed for the dancing! PS 96 Annual Potluck was a joyful event with parent volunteers and NIDC staff setting up a wide variety of dishes for over 125 students.
Thanksgiving Food Giveaway At Crotona V/VI
Residents at Crotona V/VI were excited to welcome the community’s first annual canned food giveaway, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
PS/MS 89 and NIDC Thanksgiving Community Fair
Students and their parents were thankful for hot cocoa, hot food, fun crafts, tasty treats and free books! There were even raffles for 80 free turkeys–and a few Radio City Christmas Spectacular tickets, too!

NYS Children’s Asthma Initiative of the American Lung Association Host ASthma Education Workshop For NIDC
The session equipped NIDC staff from across all our afterschool sites with essential knowledge about asthma triggers, early warning signs, and best practices for assisting youth who may experience asthma-related challenges while in our care.
Eastchester Gardens Community Center | Thanksgiving SHare: Community Potluck
“It was a great turnout! Always a pleasure to volunteer!” said one attendee. “I look forward to this event every year–I like how you bring the community together,” added another happy participant.
Community Clean-up at Walter Gladwin Park!
NIDC brought together volunteers on Nov. 8th to clean along the East Tremont corridor, mulch tree pits and plant tulips for spring.
