NIDC Youth Programs Enjoy a Movie Day at Magic Johnson Movie Theater
NIDC’s Youth Programs treated campers to a movie day at the Magic Johnson Movie Theater, where 55 students and 15 staff members enjoyed Minions and Monsters. While some students were initially unsure about the movie, they gave it a chance and connected with its themes of family, values, life choices, and personal growth. The outing offered campers both a fun afternoon and a reminder that sometimes a new experience can surprise us.
NIDC Youth Programs Encourage Creativity at Wonder Bear Workshop
NIDC’s Youth Programs gave 120 students the chance to bring their creativity to life during a hands-on Wonder Bear Workshop at PS/MS 89. Students stuffed and personalized their own teddy bears, creating a special keepsake to take home. The activity encouraged imagination, self-expression, and creativity while giving students a memorable experience they could share with their peers.
NIDC Youth Programs Bring Magic and Fun to PS/MS 89
NIDC’s Youth Programs brought an afternoon of magic, laughter, and community building to 120 students at PS/MS 89. Students enjoyed an exciting magic show along with balloon twisting, fresh cotton candy, and popcorn. From cheering along with the performers to proudly showing off their balloon creations, students stayed engaged throughout the afternoon and enjoyed the opportunity to connect and have fun with their peers.
NIDC Youth Programs Celebrate Summer Camp with a Splish Splash Day
NIDC’s Youth Programs wrapped up Summer Camp with a splash! On August 7, campers and staff spent the day at Splish Splash enjoying waterpark rides, food, and time together. With 68 children and 15 staff members participating, the trip gave everyone a chance to celebrate the summer and create lasting memories. By the end of the day, students were already hoping to return next year!
NIDC Celebrates the First Neurodiversity & Your Child Virtual Cohort
NIDC’s Family Support Network celebrated the completion of its first Neurodiversity & Your Child Virtual Cohort with a special virtual celebration on July 28. Parents who completed seven or more workshops were recognized with Certificates of Completion and gift cards, while participants reflected on what they learned throughout the year. The celebration also featured an inspiring presentation from Christy Olsen on being a neurodivergent leader and mother. Parents shared that the program helped strengthen their relationships with their children, highlighting the meaningful impact of the cohort.
NIDC Joins Community Partners for The People’s Money Appreciation Breakfast
NIDC’s Community Engagement team joined fellow community partners at the NYC Civic Engagement Commission’s Partner Appreciation Breakfast celebrating this year’s The People’s Money initiative. The gathering brought together partners from across New York City for a morning of networking, recognition, and collaboration. As a TRIE partner, NIDC valued the opportunity to reconnect with community organizations and city partners while building new relationships and exploring resources to support future community and housing initiatives.
