The runway went to the dogs! On October 10, 2026, Neighborhood Initiatives Development Corporation (NIDC), in partnership with Dogs of Mott Haven, brought the community together for a fun-filled Doggy Fashion Show at Walter Gladwin Park!
The afternoon welcomed 150 attendees, including 100 adults and 50 children, for a celebration of furry friends, local businesses, and responsible pet ownership. The stars of the show were 33 adorable dogs who strutted their stuff down the runway, showing off their costumes and stealing the spotlight!
Beyond the fashionable pups, the event offered an opportunity to educate community members about proper dog waste etiquette and the importance of keeping shared neighborhood spaces clean and welcoming for everyone.
Local merchants also joined the festivities, setting up tables and sharing product samples with attendees. Their participation helped showcase neighborhood businesses while creating opportunities for residents to connect with the merchants serving their community.
The event received enthusiastic feedback, with one attendee sharing, "It was so much fun. Look forward to the next event."
From creative costumes to community connections, the Doggy Fashion Show was a wonderful reminder that bringing neighbors, businesses, and their four-legged companions together can make for a memorable afternoon.
NIDC thanks Dogs of Mott Haven, participating merchants, and everyone who joined us for a paws-itively wonderful celebration!
