Mental Health & Boundaries: Building Healthier Connections (FSN)
Understanding and setting healthy boundaries can play an important role in supporting our mental health and relationships. NIDC’s Family Support Network recently brought this conversation to Eastchester Community Gardens through an interactive Mental Health & Boundaries: The Connection Workshop.
Held on September 18, the workshop gave parents and caregivers an opportunity to learn what boundaries are, how to establish and maintain them, and how healthy boundaries can support emotional well-being. Participants were encouraged to join the conversation by asking questions, sharing their thoughts, and discussing how these practices can be applied in everyday life.
The workshop welcomed 11 adults and one child, including several residents who were participating in an NIDC program for the first time. Attendees also received information about the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and other Family Support Network resources available to individuals and families in the community.
Participants remained engaged throughout the session, which also included lunch and a prize raffle. The conversation resonated strongly with attendees, with one participant even requesting that NIDC offer another workshop on the topic in the future.
Through workshops like this, NIDC’s Family Support Network continues to create welcoming spaces where families and caregivers can learn, connect, and access resources that support their well-being.
