Strengthening Leadership Through Tenant Association Board Orientation
Strong resident leadership starts with the right tools, clear communication, and opportunities to work together. NIDC’s Community Development team continued its Tenant Association Board Orientation on September 10, bringing board members together for the second day of training and discussion.
The session provided an overview of board roles and responsibilities, expectations for effective leadership, and resources available to help board members serve and engage residents. Participants also received guidance on using the new board tracking system, along with best practices for staying organized and maintaining consistent communication.
An important part of the evening focused on strengthening coordination between the Tenant Association and Security staff. Participants discussed upcoming resident events and explored ways both groups can work together to improve communication, coordination, and support for community activities.
Eight adults participated in the orientation, asking thoughtful questions and actively contributing to the conversation. Board members expressed enthusiasm about working together and using what they learned to strengthen resident engagement within their community.
Through continued training and collaboration, NIDC’s Community Development team is helping equip resident leaders with the knowledge, resources, and connections they need to effectively serve their communities.
