In this workshop at PS 77, families learned practical, low-cost strategies—like interactive reading, rhyming games, and talking during routines—to support speech development and bonding.
PS 96 and NIDC Annual Potluck
Students came for the food, then stayed for the dancing! PS 96 Annual Potluck was a joyful event with parent volunteers and NIDC staff setting up a wide variety of dishes for over 125 students.
PS/MS 89 and NIDC Thanksgiving Community Fair
Students and their parents were thankful for hot cocoa, hot food, fun crafts, tasty treats and free books! There were even raffles for 80 free turkeys–and a few Radio City Christmas Spectacular tickets, too!
NYS Children’s Asthma Initiative of the American Lung Association Host ASthma Education Workshop For NIDC
The session equipped NIDC staff from across all our afterschool sites with essential knowledge about asthma triggers, early warning signs, and best practices for assisting youth who may experience asthma-related challenges while in our care.

Halloween Hit the Bronx and NIDC was there for it!
NIDC welcomed Halloween this year in nonstop fashion. From a Haunted House packed with scary fun to a first-ever Halloween celebration for Crotona tenants, NIDC amped up the festive spirit of the holiday.

Einstein College of Medicine’s dermatology student group partnered with NIDC Youth Programs to present the “Good Skin Knowledge” initiative at PS/MS 89. Designed for 5th–8th graders, the two-day program featured four interactive modules covering sun safety, acne, and skin reactions to bugs and plants.

NIDC Joins the Bronx 49th Precinct for Fun-A-Ween!
The 49th Precinct hosted over 250 children and adults at the annual Fun-O-Ween event, giving goblins young and old a day filled with seasonal activities and scary fun!
Back to school fairs get Bronx Children ready for another school year
As summer ended, NIDC hosted a series of lively Back to School events across the Bronx, bringing together families, community partners, and local organizations to support students as they prepared for the new school year. The days were filled with fun, food, games, giveaways and more!
