NYS Children’s Asthma Initiative of the American Lung Association Host ASthma Education Workshop For NIDC
The session equipped NIDC staff from across all our afterschool sites with essential knowledge about asthma triggers, early warning signs, and best practices for assisting youth who may experience asthma-related challenges while in our care.
Community Health Fair with Einstein Service-Learning Students at PS/MS 89
Einstein College of Medicine’s dermatology student group partnered with NIDC Youth Programs to present the “Good Skin Knowledge” initiative at PS/MS 89. Designed for 5th–8th graders, the two-day program featured four interactive modules covering sun safety, acne, and skin reactions to bugs and plants.

The Social Determinants of Health paradigm shows that “lived experiences” represent 70% of the causative factors impacting health, many of which changes in lifestyle or regular screenings may negate.
