Einstein Medical Students Teach Skin Health to PS/MS 89 Youth through “Good Skin Knowledge” Program
On September 30 and October 1, Einstein College of Medicine’s dermatology student group partnered with NIDC Youth Programs to present the “Good Skin Knowledge” initiative at PS/MS 89. Designed for 5th–8th graders, the two-day program featured four interactive modules covering sun safety, acne, and skin reactions to bugs and plants.
Led by current Einstein medical students, the sessions combined education with hands-on activities–including building skin models to explore skin structure and function. Students also received sample bags filled with dermatologist-recommended skincare products to put what they learned to practice and support ongoing skin care.
Funded by a grant from the American Academy of Dermatology, the event engaged local youth in a unique activity they thoroughly enjoyed! It also strengthened ties between Einstein’s dermatology community and Bronx students—highlighting the impact of medical outreach beyond the clinic.
