St. Barnabas Residents Shared Ideas for “The People’s Money”

As part of “The People’s Money” (the NYC Civic Engagement Commission’s Citywide Participatory Budgeting program), NIDC held an “Idea Generation” session at St. Barnabas Senior Apartments on October 22nd.

Residents came together to create ideas for different programs or services they would like to see in their community, including expanding existing programs or creating new ideas to fill an unmet need. A raffle as well as a trivia contest made the afternoon even more lively–and gave everyone a chance to pick prizes!

Momma Rosa’s Cucina provided a tasty lunch of sandwiches and pasta salad.

We also partnered with MetroPlus Medicare representative Jersey Almonte, who provided useful information to attendees. Special thank you to CEC’s Leenda Bonilla, community volunteer Rosamarie Rivera and the wonderful SBH interns for making the afternoon a success.

“Idea Generation” is Phase 1 of “The People’s Money” and runs through November 19th. For more information or if your organization is interested in having a session, please contact Jessica Toro at jtoro@nidcny.org.
