Bringing Resources and Support to the Community
At NIDC, we believe in the power of community-driven programming to uplift, inform, and inspire. Over the past few weeks, we’ve had the joy of hosting several events that brought neighbors together, sparked meaningful conversations, and supported healthier, more connected lives.
Promoting Wellness at the Health Fair
On May 6, our Health Hub team hosted a vibrant Health Fair at PS 77 to promote health awareness and encourage healthy lifestyles. The event drew an enthusiastic crowd and created a space where families, caregivers, and school staff could engage with health-focused resources and activities.
PS 77 staff expressed deep appreciation for the event, noting how engaged the participants were throughout the afternoon.
Connecting Families at the PS 483 Resource Fair
On May 17, our Youth Programs team brought together over 60 community members for a Resource Fair at PS 483, designed to connect families with essential services and support. With the help of partners like Care Collab, Counseling Services of NY, the NYC Department of Health, FDNY, NYPD, and the Mayor’s Office of Community Affairs, the fair offered a one-stop hub for information on health, education, employment, housing, and more.
The event welcomed families, creating a lively and informative atmosphere where attendees could explore resources tailored to their needs. By featuring local organizations and service providers, the fair empowered families with practical tools and knowledge to navigate everyday challenges.
“The goal was to increase awareness of available programs and services, promote community engagement, and empower attendees with information,” said one team member. “It was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we bring resources directly to the community.”
These events are just a glimpse into the work NIDC is doing every day to strengthen neighborhoods and support families. Whether through health education, or access to resources, we remain committed to building a community where everyone feels seen, supported, and empowered.
