Building Community at Eastchester Gardens

On Friday, June 6, NIDC’s Community Engagement team hosted a Food Pantry Giveaway at Eastchester Community Gardens, providing essential resources and connecting with neighbors in a spirit of solidarity and care.

In partnership with community advocate Andy King, the event served 40+ families, distributing fresh pantry items to residents facing food insecurity. As always, community members expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to access free, healthy food, especially during times when rising costs can make even basic groceries hard to afford.

More than just a giveaway, this event created space for neighbors to connect with NIDC and one another, while also engaging with leaders who care about the Bronx and its future.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and to all those who continue to make community-centered work like this possible. Together, we are building a stronger, healthier Bronx.
