Housing Justice at Community Conversation & Resource Fair

On the evening of June 5, 2025, NIDC’s Housing Department joined local leaders and community partners at Council Member Kevin Riley’s Community Conversation and Housing Resource Fair at the North Bronx National Council of Negro Women Child Development Center.

This important event brought together 40 community members and a powerful coalition of housing advocates and service providers, including West Bronx Housing, Housing Court Answers, NCNW East Bronx Section, NYC Commission on Human Rights, and the NYC Department of Social Services.

The evening kicked off with a community discussion about housing justice and the FY25 budget, centering the urgent needs and lived experiences of Bronx residents. Each participating organization introduced their services, ranging from housing legal aid to tenant support and benefits access, before opening the floor to audience questions and direct engagement at resource tables.

Events like these are a reminder that housing justice is about more than policy, it’s about connection, advocacy, and ensuring residents have the tools and support they need to remain in their homes and communities. NIDC was proud to be part of this collaborative effort and will continue to advocate for a Bronx where safe, stable, and affordable housing is a right for all.
