NIDC Introduces NEW Promotwd Director of Community Engagement—Jessica Toro

Jessica Toro

DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

NIDC is proud to announce the promotion of Jessica Toro to Director of Community Engagement.

Since joining NIDC more than four years ago, Jessica has been instrumental in expanding our presence across the Bronx and strengthening our connection to the communities we serve. When the Community Engagement department was established in 2021 to address health disparities and social inequities during the COVID-19 pandemic, she helped shape its foundation and direction.

Under her leadership, the Community Engagement team has connected with thousands of Bronx residents, increasing access to vital information, resources, and services. From public health outreach and participatory budgeting efforts to emergency preparedness initiatives and cross-departmental collaboration, her work has consistently centered accessibility, responsiveness, and community voice.

Jessica works closely with every department at NIDC, supporting housing, youth and family programming, health initiatives, and more. She is often the face representing NIDC in community spaces, building trusted partnerships and ensuring that our services reach the people who need them most.

This promotion reflects not only her leadership, but the lasting impact of her commitment to equity, connection, and action. We are grateful for her energy, persistence, and deep dedication to the Bronx.

Congratulations, Jessica, on this well-earned achievement.
