Expanding Access to Homeownership Resources in the Bronx

On March 4, 2026, NIDC joined community partners at a Homeowner Resource Fair hosted by Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson at Bronx Borough Hall on the Grand Concourse.

The event brought together residents, financial institutions, and housing professionals to ensure Bronx community members had access to clear and reliable information about homeownership. For many residents, understanding the process of purchasing and sustaining a home can feel complex. Events like this provide an opportunity to ask questions, connect directly with experts, and learn about the resources available to support both current homeowners and first-time buyers.

Throughout the afternoon, attendees participated in workshops focused on financial preparedness, the home-buying process, and strategies to improve energy efficiency in the home. These sessions helped demystify important steps in the housing journey and gave participants practical knowledge they can use when planning for their future.

NIDC staff members Erica Hutcheck, Lauren Rojas, and Henry Ocasio represented the organization at the event, sharing information about housing services and support available through NIDC. Their outreach helped connect residents with resources designed to strengthen housing stability and expand access to opportunities in the Bronx.

At NIDC, expanding access to information is an important part of strengthening communities. By meeting residents where they are and providing pathways to trusted resources, we continue working toward a Bronx where families have the knowledge and support needed to build lasting stability.
