NIDC Participates in People’s Money Bronx Assembly Meeting

NIDC recently joined fellow Bronx TRIE partners at a Borough Assembly Committee meeting for The People’s Money, an initiative led by the New York City Civic Engagement Commission.

Held at CUNY on the Concourse, the meeting brought together community stakeholders to provide feedback and input on the selected ideas proposed for Bronx neighborhoods. The session marked an important step in the participatory budgeting process, where organizations and residents help shape how public funds are allocated to address community priorities.

During the assembly, NIDC and partner organizations reviewed proposals and shared insights based on our direct work with families and residents across the Bronx. Contributing feedback at this stage helps ensure that the ideas advancing to the ballot reflect the real needs and voices of the community.

The next phase of The People’s Money process includes narrowing the proposals down to the top ten ideas that will appear on the Bronx ballot in May. These initiatives will then move forward for public voting.

NIDC remains dedicated to serving the community not only through direct programming but also by engaging in civic spaces where neighborhood voices influence broader systems. We look forward to encouraging residents to participate in the upcoming ballot process and continue shaping the future of our communities.
