Author Visit Inspires Young Readers at PS 96 Summer Rising
Students participating in NIDC's Summer Rising program at PS 96 enjoyed a memorable day of learning and inspiration during a special visit from Dr. Haley Heibel, Dermatology Resident at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center and author of Embrace Your Skin, Embrace Yourself.
Dr. Heibel captivated second and third grade students with an engaging read-aloud of her children's book before leading an interactive discussion about skin health, self-confidence, and embracing the qualities that make each person unique. Students enthusiastically participated in a question-and-answer session, asking thoughtful questions about becoming a doctor, writing a book, and developing healthy habits.
To conclude the visit, every student received a personally signed copy of Embrace Your Skin, Embrace Yourself, giving them a meaningful keepsake to continue their reading journey at home.
