Building Community Through the Annual Cops vs. Kids Basketball Game

Friendly competition and community connection came together during the Annual Cops vs. Kids Basketball Game on April 8, 2026, at Eastchester Community Gardens.

Youth participants took to the court alongside officers from the 49th Precinct, engaging in a series of games that combined athletic skill building with meaningful interaction. The event created an opportunity for young people to develop their basketball abilities while connecting with local officers in a positive and supportive environment.

Through teamwork, communication, and shared moments on the court, participants were able to see officers from a different perspective, helping to build trust and strengthen relationships within the community. The experience encouraged open interaction and helped create a space where youth felt comfortable, engaged, and supported.

Events like the Cops vs. Kids Basketball Game highlight the importance of community partnerships in creating safe and connected neighborhoods. By bringing youth and local officers together through shared activities, NIDC continues to foster environments where relationships can grow and community bonds are strengthened.
