Building Stronger Communities Through Wellness, Wealth, and Preparedness

Families, community partners, and local organizations came together at PS 96 on May 19, 2026, for NIDC's Wellness, Wealth & Preparedness Fair, an event designed to connect residents with valuable health, financial, and emergency preparedness resources.

Hosted in partnership with PS 96, the fair welcomed families for an afternoon focused on education, wellness, and community engagement. More than 20 organizations participated, creating opportunities for attendees to learn about services and programs available throughout the Bronx.

The event featured presentations from NYC Emergency Management and FDNY, providing families with practical information on emergency preparedness and fire safety. Attendees also had access to community resources, giveaways, and opportunities to connect directly with local organizations and service providers.

Families enjoyed a healthy snack station sponsored by Ridgewood Bank, a children's activity area, and a book giveaway made possible through donations from the UFT Bronx Office. Additional raffle prizes were generously donated by community partners, helping create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for participants of all ages.

One of the event's most meaningful outcomes was the collaboration it fostered among participating organizations. Throughout the afternoon, community partners connected with one another, exchanged ideas, and began discussing future opportunities to work together in support of Bronx families.

Events like the Wellness, Wealth & Preparedness Fair demonstrate the power of partnership and community collaboration. By bringing together organizations, schools, and families in one space, NIDC continues to create opportunities for residents to access resources, build relationships, and strengthen their communities.
