ECG Community Game Night Brings Neighbors Together Through Play
On May 1, Eastchester Community Gardens welcomed residents for ECG Community Game Night, an evening centered on connection, belonging, and community engagement through play.
Families, youth, and residents of all ages gathered together to enjoy board games, card games, arcade games, video games, snacks, and conversation in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Nearly 70 community members attended the event, including many individuals and families participating in a community center event for the very first time.
While the games brought people together, the true impact of the evening was the sense of connection that developed throughout the space. Residents who had lived in the same neighborhood for years had the opportunity to finally meet, talk, laugh, and build new friendships with one another in a positive and supportive environment.
The event was intentionally designed to create a space where community members could simply gather, enjoy themselves, and connect organically without pressure or structure. By allowing residents to guide the pace of the evening naturally, the atmosphere became warm, welcoming, and deeply community-oriented.
Beyond entertainment, ECG Community Game Night also helped strengthen awareness of the center and introduced residents to future programs, activities, and opportunities for engagement within the community. Events like these continue to show the importance of creating safe and accessible spaces where neighbors can come together and build meaningful relationships.
NIDC extends special thanks to Jasmine, Janiyah, and Heather for their dedication and support in helping make the event such a meaningful success.
We look forward to continuing to create opportunities that bring residents together, strengthen neighborhood connections, and foster a stronger sense of community throughout Eastchester Community Gardens.
