Finding Calm in the Chaos: FSN’s June Workshops Help Families Beat Summer Stress
Summer can be a time of joy and connection, but for many caregivers, it also brings unique challenges. That’s why the Family Support Network (FSN) hosted impactful workshops in June 2025, to help families navigate the summer season with more ease, balance, and support.
At PS 105, caregivers gathered for a thoughtful and engaging session focused on practical tools for managing stress and promoting family well-being. The workshop created a healing space where parents and caregivers could reflect on their summer routines, share experiences, and learn strategies to support both their children’s emotional regulation and their own mental health.
One participant, who has attended multiple FSN workshops this year, shared how meaningful it has been to stay connected through these sessions. The presence of the school’s Parent Coordinator added another layer of support, making the event feel deeply rooted in community care.
The following morning, FSN brought the same powerful programming to PS 77. This session was especially interactive, with caregivers diving into discussions around stress management and also recognizing PTSD Awareness Month. The group explored culturally responsive strategies for maintaining calm and consistency during the summer months.
Caregivers left with at least three new tools they could immediately apply at home, ranging from mindfulness practices to boundary-setting routines. The workshop also helped increase awareness of FSN’s broader support services, encouraging families to stay connected and reach out when needed.
Both workshops were designed to do more than just offer tips—they aimed to build a sense of community, reduce isolation, and empower caregivers with the confidence to care for themselves and their families. By fostering trust and connection, FSN continues to be a vital resource for families navigating the ups and downs of parenting.
