Family Support network Hosts: “Your Children & Tech: Screentime & Safety” workshop at PS 94
On July 31, 2025, the Family Support Network (FSN) brought together families from PS 77, PS 94, and PS 56 for a vital workshop on children’s technology use and digital safety. Held at PS 94 and supported by the Summer Rising programs of PS 77, PS 96, and PS 54, the event aimed to empower caregivers with tools and knowledge to navigate the digital world alongside their children.
Empowering Families Through Education
The workshop provided a clear and accessible overview of the New York State Internet Device Policy for 2025–2026, helping families understand school guidelines around technology use, internet safety, and personal devices. Parents received bilingual resources from Common Sense Media, NetSmartz, and NYS policy materials to support safe and balanced tech use at home. Coming together in person, the workshop also provided a space for connection and support, reaching adults, children and parent coordinators from all the participating schools. Parents actively engaged in discussions, shared concerns, and connected over shared experiences.
Key topics covered:
Managing Screen Time: Strategies to promote healthy digital habits and reduce tech overuse.
Understanding Online Risks: Insights into cyberbullying, digital addiction, inappropriate content, and data privacy.
Creating Family Digital Agreements: Guidance on setting home tech rules aligned with school policies and family values.
