SRAE Program Brings Learning to Life at SPYSCAPE
An exciting and interactive learning experience unfolded during Spring Break as NIDC youth visited SPYSCAPE on April 7, 2026, as part of the Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) Program.
Elementary participants from PS 96, PS 89, and Eastchester Gardens took part in the trip, where they were challenged to apply essential life skills in a dynamic, real world setting. A key focus of the SRAE program is building confidence in decision-making, communication, and leadership, and this experience brought those lessons to life in a meaningful way.
At SPYSCAPE, students engaged in immersive challenges designed to test their problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and critical thinking. Working together to complete missions, participants practiced communicating effectively, making thoughtful decisions under pressure, and stepping into leadership roles.
What made the experience especially impactful was the opportunity for staff to observe these skills in action. Students demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and collaboration, showing how classroom lessons can translate into real world behaviors.
The trip was both educational and empowering, giving participants the chance to grow while having fun in a supportive environment. Experiences like this reinforce the SRAE program’s mission to equip youth with the tools they need to make informed, healthy decisions and succeed both socially and emotionally.
NIDC is proud of all participants for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and growth throughout this experience.
