Summer Skate Night Brings Community Together in the Bronx
On June 26, NIDC's Economic Development department and the White Plains Road Business Improvement District (WPR BID) welcomed families to Summer Skate Night at the Bronx Park East Basketball Courts for an evening of fun, recreation, and community connection.
Residents of all ages gathered to enjoy free roller skating provided by Skate Boogie, with children and adults registering to borrow skates and spend the evening skating to music. The event also featured a variety of family-friendly activities, including balloon art, face painting, popcorn, cotton candy, and opportunities to visit community resource tables.
Summer Skate Night was designed to introduce residents to the work of the WPR BID while creating a welcoming space for neighbors to come together and enjoy a free community event. Through experiences like these, families had the opportunity to learn more about the BID's role in supporting local businesses, enhancing neighborhood spaces, and fostering a vibrant community.
The event was made possible through the support of several community partners, including Skate Boogie, Athletics 25, the 49th Precinct Community Affairs, Council Member Shirley Aldebol, Full Element Martial Arts, and Assembly Member John Zaccaro Jr. Their collaboration helped create an engaging evening filled with activities that encouraged families to connect with one another while enjoying the start of the summer season.
