Back-to-School Giveaway Brings Books and Supplies to White Plains Road
Back-to-school preparation came with a little extra fun on White Plains Road as NIDC’s Economic Development team joined local partners to help Bronx families prepare for the new school year.
The Back-to-School Giveaway, held on August 29 at Starbucks on White Plains Road, welcomed approximately 80 adults and 100 children for an afternoon of free school supplies, books, and family-friendly activities.
Children received backpacks and essential school supplies to help them head back to the classroom prepared. Young readers also received Dog Man books and had the chance to take photos with Dog Man, adding some extra excitement to the afternoon. Families were also invited to participate in special activities together throughout the event.
The giveaway brought together a wide range of community partners, including Bronx Bound Books, State Senator Gustavo Rivera, Bear Magic, Scholastic, Excellence Community Schools, Storefront Academy Charter School, and Starbucks.
Through partnerships like these, NIDC continues to connect families with resources while bringing businesses, organizations, and community members together to support Bronx children as they begin a new school year.
