NIDC Youth Programs Enjoy a Movie Day at Magic Johnson Movie Theater

NIDC’s Youth Programs treated campers to a well-deserved movie outing on July 24, giving 55 students and 15 staff members an afternoon to relax, enjoy a family-friendly film, and spend time together outside of their regular camp activities.

The group visited the Magic Johnson Movie Theater to watch Minions and Monsters, a family-oriented movie that offered more than just entertainment. Through its themes of family, morals, values, and life choices, the film gave students an opportunity to reflect on the importance of making positive choices and believing in themselves, even when others may not believe in them.

The students' reactions to the movie made the experience especially memorable. Some campers were initially unsure about the movie based on its title, but after giving it a chance, they became more engaged with the story and its message.

The experience also opened the door to an important lesson: sometimes our first impressions aren't always right. By giving the movie a chance, students were able to discover a story that resonated with them and reinforced the idea that people and circumstances can change.

The outing provided campers with a fun break while also encouraging them to think about the choices they make and the ways they respond to new experiences.

NIDC is proud to create opportunities for young people to enjoy themselves, build connections, and discover meaningful lessons in unexpected places. This movie day was a simple but memorable way for campers to spend time together while ending the experience with a message of growth, possibility, and self-belief.
